Krystal, an international studies student at the California state University long beach, has a dream aimed at seeing a society free of diseases, poverty and war.

In pursuance of her dream in the community of Gayaza Kabonera sub county of Masaka municipality in Masaka district of Uganda East Africa, she initiated a project called "GAYA" meaning Gayaza youth ambassadors. The GAYA aimed at full participatory involvement issues and activities to address the prevailing community challenges of diseases, poverty, illiteracy and ignorance as Marjory affecting their livelihoods.

The GAYA project is purposefully to empower the youth to actively and effectively be able to identify, prioritize and plan to address their community challenge aimed at imparting skills for increased food production for food security and sell of surplus as an IGA(income Generating activities) entrepreneur skills to promote their enterprising opportunities, environmental hygiene to eradicate opportunities and preventable diseases, income generation to promote individual and household incomes for improved welfare enabling to provide their school supplies and pay their school fees and curb the problem of high school drop out rate among the school going youth.
Summary, Krystal helped the Gayaza youth to mobilize their effort and resource to improve their community welfare.

Many challenges have emerged and continue to lie ahead of the progress of the GAYA project and these are as here below:-
  1. Need to build further the capacity of the youth in areas of planning and tracking.
  2. Need to build for their capacity of the youth in modern farming or agronomic practice, marketing and serving skills, environmental hygiene to holistically address their household problems.
  3. Need to provide farm implements and other inputs such as; improved high yield seed variety and pesticides to enable for increased food production in the community.
